Image of Artists on Show

Thanks to LSA Teacher, Michael Cassidy, thirty 6th form students studying art and photography at LSA have been able to  showcase selected works from their portfolios for the general public.  He curated a stunning and varied collection of their work which is on display  at the Cafe Dolce, Abingdon Street, Blackpool.  After an exciting first night when the collection was launched on Thursday 7th March, the display will  now remain until the end of March.  The exhibition shows an exciting range of approaches and ideas and reflects some of the current interests of hugely talented students.

From reflective landscapes and the beauty of nature to celebrity and culture, identity and the human condition, students have examined a range of subjects throughout their journey.  Thirty different personalities have, through hard work and careful study, expressed something unique about the world they live in.

Michael Cassidy said "I am an artist myself and was so impressed with their creative results,  which give an insight into the journey of experimentation and discovery, that I felt this kind of talent should be shared.  In selecting the work we hope to convey the curiosity and expressive energy of our students and given an  insight into their personal thoughts and interests.  The response has been very encouraging and I hope that as many people as possible will pop into the cafe to see for themselves and brighten up their day!

Picture shows 16 year old student Gabrielle Dawkins with her painting.  She said  "With most of my artwork I want to force the viewer to look at things in the environment that people  usually avoid.  I want people to see that even though this flower is dying, there are beautiful colours still present."
