Andy Butterworth from Butty’s kindly gave up his time to come in and speak to our Y12 BTEC Business students. The students are required to investigate how businesses set up and the influence stakeholders have on them, luckily Andy was happy to oblige. So, over the delicious homemade cake Andy supplied, made with as locally sourced produce as possible, the students asked questions about the impact of suppliers and why locally sourcing was a good business idea. The students enjoyed the experience and have requested that every Monday finishes this way!
Lisa Fitzpatrick, their Business teacher said “The Business BTEC is such a great qualification as it needs the students to get to grips with the theory and then apply this in a business setting, meaning they develop a strong understanding. We’re lucky to have local businesses like Butty’s, who are willing to support our students, giving them the information they need to complete their work. Some of the answers really opened the students’ eyes and I think some were genuinely surprised by the work that goes into a small business.
