Image of Young Artist of the Year Competiton

Schools from across Blackpool, Wyre and Fylde are invited to submit entries to the Young Artist of the Year competition, organised by Blackpool and The Fylde College’s School of Creative Arts, each year. Entries are judged by specialist panel from the College and a selection of highly commended pieces go on display at the Gallery within the College’s University Centre for all to see.

2014 is the third year that LSA has had work selected for the exhibition. The eight pieces on display were selected by the LSA Art department due to their unquestionable high standard. All pieces were created by students during their ten hour controlled GCSE Art exam. Five of the eight were shortlisted for the gallery; which meant that LSA had a strong representation in the show.

The five pieces selected were

Anna Fowler - Nature Trail
Holly Lack  - Broken
Jake Lord  - Concept
Rowan Keane  - Toy Box
Tom Hobson  - Time Lapse

An exhibition of these remarkable pieces can be viewed in the foyer and will be up until the end of term.
