Image of LSA Drama Teacher Brings Real Life Experience

LSA Drama Teacher Mal Smith is the Associate Director of Splendid Productions a national touring theatre company. This year marks their 10th Anniversary and their current touring production is an adaptation of Sophocles' 'Antigone'. It has been playing across the country since September. Mr. Smith co-wrote the adaptation with his partner-in-theatre Kerry Frampton and he also directed the play.

Splendid Productions have had two performances at The Lowry in Manchester on Monday 3rd Feb. Both shows sold out and after the Lowry added extra seats... they sold them out too!

Mr Smith said "I've been with the company from day one spending years touring as an actor - including playing at the National Theatre - before taking on the Director role as I took up the job in LSATPAC.  It's really important to me that my students get the benefit of seeing how the industry actually works and I'm lucky to be able to give them some real insight."

You can see details of the play on the Splendid Productions own website at www.splendid-productions.co.uk or on the Lowry's website. There are quotes about the work on both sites as well.
