DofE 2024/25

A welcome from His Royal Highness Prince Edward the Duke of Edinburgh.

Prince Edward, the Duke of Edinburgh, is a passionate supporter of The Duke of Edinburgh's Award (DofE) and has been involved with the program in many ways, including:

He has been a trustee of the DofE since 1988 and of the International Award since 2006. Edward later went on to become Chair of trustees of the Duke of Edinburgh's International Award in 2015, and was named patron of the Duke of Edinburgh's Award in 2023.

Introduction:

The D of E programme is a real adventure from beginning to end. It doesn't matter who you are or where you're from. You just need to be aged between 14 (Any Y9s can take part) and 24 and realise there's more to life than sitting on a sofa watching life pass you by.

You can do programmes at three levels, Bronze, Silver or Gold, which lead to a Duke of Edinburgh's Award.  You achieve an Award by completing a personal programme of activities in four sections (five if you're going for Gold). You'll find yourself helping people or the community, getting fitter, developing skills, going on an expedition and taking part in a residential activity (Gold only).

But here's the best bit - you get to choose what you do! Your programme can be full of activities and projects that get you buzzing. And along the way you'll pick up experiences, friends and talents that will stay with you for the rest of your life. 

DofE Expeditions Dates

We run Bronze DofE (year9) and Silver DofE (year 10).

Silver

Students aiming to achieve their silver award will go on a practice expedition followed by an assessed expedition a few weeks later. The expeditions happen in the Yorkshire dales.

· Silver practice expedition 7th, 8th 9th May 2025

· Silver assessed expedition 21st, 22nd, 23rd May 2025

Bronze

We have a large cohort of students aiming to gain their Bronze award this year. The students will be split into 3 groups.

The practice part of the expedition happens on day 1 and the assessed over day 2 and 3. Students will travel to the Forest of Bowland for their Bronze expedition.

· Group A: 4th, 5th, 6th June 2025

· Group B: 18th, 19th, 20th June 2025

· Group C: 14th, 15th, 16th July 2025

DofE Weekly drop in sessions

We have a drop in session on a Wednesday after school in the ACC. Students can come if they have any questions, or need help uploading evidence onto their eDofE app, we can also reset passwords or remind students of their username.
