Image of Former LSA student named best Apprentice Paperhanger!

Axel Cartmell, former student here at LSA has been awarded 'Apprentice Paperhanger of the Year' at a gala dinner hosted by the leading trade body the Painting & Decorating Association.

Axel, 18 is an apprentice with Busy Hands Decor in St Annes. He won a £300 cash prize for his efforts as well as being awarded a certificate and trophy by former Manchester City & England footballer, Peter Barnes at the Marriot Renaissance Hotel in Manchester.

Axel says ''The competition recognises the best young apprentiecs in the country so to come out on top is a massive honour. I can't believe I've wont it to be honest, but I'm obviously delighted!''

The 'Apprentice Paperhanger of the Year' competition is open to apprentices across the UK and was held in October. Each candidate was asked to wallpaper a scaled-down living room including a fireplace, window & chimney then decorate a booth which involved 'cutting in' around a ceiling rose.

Neil Ogilvie, Chief Executive of the PDA said ''Axel has done extremely well to have won this award, he was up against some tough competition.''

A big well done to Axel from us at LSA and we hope he continues on his passion for painting & decorating!
