This morning the school held an assembly for year 7 students on road safety. PCSO Higgs and PCSO Gibson delivered the message about staying safe when crossing the busy roads near school and when coming to school on bicycles.

The school's Student Council had asked that the assembly take place as part of their plans to improve safety for students. In the past they have also successfully petitioned for an extension of the 20MPH speed limit to be applied to the roads near to school and for zig-zag, no stopping lines to be applied outside the school. This morning students were reminded of the need to act responsibly and to pay attention when crossing the busy roads.

Each student was provided with a reflective bag attachment with the words "Be Safe! Be Seen!". The school is extremely grateful for the support of Harrisons Builders from Kirkham for sponsoring these reflective strips. Mr John Glenholme from Harrisons was present during the assembly to see the children receive them.

Governors, staff and students hope that parents will support the safety message by considering the needs of all young people when parking near to the school.
