Image of Blackpool Music Service Young Musician of the Year

Tremendous congratulations are in order for Year 9 student Kelsey Lester who won the Blackpool Music Service Young Musician of the Year Award. The annual event showcases local talent, including competitions for Key Stages 2, 3 and 4. Entrants representing 11 Primary Schools and Academies in the KS2 competition and every Secondary School and Academy in Blackpool and Lytham St Annes were represented in the KS3 and/or KS4 competitions.

Kelsey is currently a member of the Blackpool Music Service Youth Concert Band where she plays the clarinet.

To win the award, Kelsey had to compete against 12 other musicians in her category. She performed in front of a large audience the piece of her choice, Grade 6 exam piece ‘Pot-Pourri’ by Gordon Langford.

Kelsey intends to continue to study music at College when she finishes Secondary School.
