Image of LSA Science Students in Geneva!

Science teachers Miss Wrigley and Mr Copper, embarked upon a trip to Geneva, Switzerland, with 21 science students during the February half term.  The trip was aimed at students in Yr 11-13.

Flying to Geneva from Liverpool Airport on Monday 16th February, students had a once in a lifetime opportunity to visit CERN, the home of particle physics.  CERN stands for the ‘Conseil Européen pour la Recherche Nucléaire’ or ‘European Council for Nuclear Research’.  The World Wide Web was created here, along with lots of various experiments based around particle physics; their most recent discovery was the Higgs-Boson particle.  All students found this visit extremely interesting and appears on most scientists bucket list! Something they can now cross off!

During the 3 day stay in Geneva, students also visited the Natural History Museum, History of Science Museum and the United Nations Building.  Various sightseeing opportunities were taken advantage of, including the must see harbour water fountain the ‘Jet d’Eau de Genève ‘.

This really was a fantastic ‘must see’ trip for our science students.  You can find out more about what they got up to by visiting the trip blog.
