Lytham Sixth Form student George Fox was given the opportunity to attend the Youth Sport National Talent Camp at Loughborough University.

National Talent Camp was a unique four day residential experience which brought together 350 of the most talented young athletes, coaches and officials from across England.

The camp saw 200 coaches, 100 athletes, and 50 officials come together to participate in a unique multi-sport, multi-role, three dimensional camp, to increase individual aspiration and ambition, and develop empathy. Through the camp, young people were stretched and challenged to be ambitious and achieve their sporting best.

Working with National Governing Bodies of Sport, sports coach UK and Sports Officials UK, the camp, which is funded by Sport England, and presented by Loughborough University, offered our most promising young coaches, athletes and officials the opportunity to learn and share valuable experiences in their pursuit of sporting success.

The young people attended were selected by their National Governing Body of Sport (NGB) because of the talent they have shown and the commitment to develop. The seven NGBs who each had a range of young coaches, athletes, and officials representing them at the camp include athletics, boccia, cycling, football, swimming, table tennis and volleyball. Other organisations involved include:

·         Boccia England

·         England Athletics

·         British Cycling

·         The Amateur Swimming Association

·         The Football Association

·         The Tennis Foundation

·         Volleyball England

Throughout the camp, young people were actively encouraged to dream and be ambitious on where their talent can take them, develop a holistic view of their own performance and understand how they will deliver when they are back in the environment of their own sport.

In addition to being selected for the camp, George was also selected by England Athletics as one of 15 young people to participate in a Master Class media session involving athletics stars Katarina Johnson Thompson and Hannah Cockroft, and leading coach Mike Holmes.  BT Sport and Sky Sports Game Changers filmed the session as part of their coverage of the camp and the work of the Youth Sport Trust.

The following link takes you to a video on youtube which shows some of the activities that were going on at the camp and is really quite inspirational https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RH4kDIpGrZQ

More photos and information can also be found Facebook and other social media sites which can be accessed via the Youth Sport Trust website.

In addition to this major achievement, George is also now ranked 1st in the UK on the Power of Ten website for T37 classification over 60 metres!

George and is family are very excited for him to have been given these opportunities. In true George style, however, he was more than happy to keep this quiet and play the whole thing down!!

We at LSA are very proud of George for his dedication and hard work.  We would like to give our congratulations to George for all of his achievements. We look forward to seeing what else he can achieve in the future!
