Image of Past Student Jack Irving is Making Fashion Magic!

Former student Jack Irving has had his teenage dream realised, this week, when none other than Lady Gaga was spotted wearing one of his fashion creations.

Jack has always had a flair for the dazzling and when graduating from Central St Martins College of Art, London (2014), he didn’t disappoint. Jack designed and directed a final fashion show called Enigma where he showcased several pieces of very creative styling- including this 3 metre inflatable sea urchin dress!

Encouraged by friends, Jack decided to email photographs of the evening to Lady Gaga’s styling team.

“I didn’t know what to expect, I was just happy to get a reply telling me how spectacular my items were. Then the next thing I know, I’m getting a phone calls requesting I send things to her!”

And it seems his creations didn’t disappoint! Lady Gaga was photographed wearing this fantastic hat designed by none other than Jack himself.

Even amongst the whirlwind, Jack still maintains his current job…. styling for the X- Factor! Jack said, “I do everything from costume design to working with hair and makeup. It’s a fantastic job and I feel really privileged to be where I am.”

His latest creation shows contestant Fluer East emerging in a nude latex dress custom made by costume designer Jack. The dress looked amazing painted with acrylics and decorated with red beading and Swarovski crystals.

But to many, Jack’s success is no surprise. His former textiles teacher D. Ainsworth said, “He was always totally independent and focused on the career he wanted, being at Lytham high gave him the opportunity and freedom to do this, particularly at A level. We could organise the Design Briefs to make sure he used his talents to the full and still meet the criteria. At a different college he would have been one of many and would have had to conform to their restrictions. Every university gave him an interview and all wanted to take him. His talent shone through, but he also worked very hard!”

He was even voted “Most likely to be famous” in his form!

Seeing our students succeed is an amazing feelings and a big part of why so many of us choose to be in education. Hard working, talented, down to earth students like Jack are the icing on the cake… We are very proud of all he has (and will) achieve!
