Library Book of the Week & Author in School:
Book of the week is 'Trouble' by Non Pratt. Non is an upcoming YA author and she's visiting LSA in two weeks - Readers can drop into the Library to find out how to win a signed copy of one of her books.
Non will be in school on Monday February 8th to lead creative writing workshops with students. We'll also have a public event for everyone with signed copies available to purchase.
Comic & Graphic Novel Club
Students have expressed an interest in forming a Comic/Graphic Novel club. A meeting will be held in the Library after school next Wednesday. Everyone who loves Comics/Graphic Novels/Manga/Illustration are welcome.
Book Promotion: Scholastic Book Fair @ LSA
Mrs Hirst and our Library Volunteers are preparing for our upcoming Scholastic Book Fair. We'll have the usual 'bookish' quiz and £25 worth of new books to the winning form in next weeks ERIC bulletin.
Book News: Local author wins the Costa First Novel Award
Local author and librarian Andrew Michael Hurley has won the Costa First Novel Award and has been entered into the main Costa Book Award this year. Our older students may have chatted to him during LSA Whow week where he promoted Public Library Services on a number of occasions.
Interview from Radio Lancashire (2 minute phone interview):
We've not read it yet, but it sounds like it may be for older readers in year's 10 & 11. New copies arriving Monday @ LSA. Staff are always welcome to come and borrow Library.
Accelerated Reader in Forms
Accelerated Reader Updates next week with an added leader-board challenge based on Mr Wright's dastardly 'Reader Engagement Quotient'. Basically, the greater the word-count of your weakest readers, the more likely to win this term's prizes for your form.
