I'd like to start this week's blog with a massive apology to year 11 parents. Last night our online parents' evening system School Cloud malfunctioned. This was beyond the control of the school but left many of you staring into an online abyss instead of getting much needed feedback on the progress of your children. We will send out more details to you all in the coming days and there are face to face year 11 parents' evenings planned for after Christmas. In a way last night's technology failure put a full stop on a period of time where the school, for a variety of reasons, has been too distant in its relations with parents. The face-to-face parents' evening is an important feature of school life and is the lifeblood of parent teacher dialogue. We look forward to welcoming our year 11 parents into school after Christmas.

I'd like to thank you all for your support in improving attendance, it picked up well this week and the school received an award for being in the top 25% for improved attendance in the country. This is to be celebrated but given that our attendance was lower than a snake's belly, the only way was up. We have a long way to go, and we will continue to improve the school, ensuring that safety, routine and respectful relationships lie at the heart of everything we do. While we can't control software malfunctions, we can control the variable that really matters, a great school for our children to attend. Thank you for your support and for being proud to be LSA.
