My first blog of this half term will confirm uniform arrangements for the 2026/27 academic year. As you know, I went to consultation with parents on our uniform before Christmas and I published the outcomes of the consultation to you all in January. I have since met with Governors and our uniform suppliers to confirm our arrangements for September 2026.

The focus of this uniform review was as follows:

  • To meet the statutory government guidance that comes into force in September 2026

  • To make the uniform as cheap as possible for parents and carers, reducing branded items and offering cheaper high street alternatives where possible

  • To redress issues with the current uniform, ensuring that the future of the uniform at LSA supports high expectations and standards

I have attached our revised guidance; the main changes are as follows:

  • There will now be only two branded items plus a tie. These items will be the blazer and our sports top. Our uniform manufacturers can provide these items as normal. Current additional branded items can continue to be worn until they are worn out or need replacing.

  • Branded skirts will stop being manufactured and all newly purchased skirts will be plain black, pleated and knee length. All skirts will be worn with black tights (60 denier or above)

  • During very hot weather the school will allow blazers to be removed and kept in bags. If young people find tights uncomfortable during these periods of hot weather, then they can wear plain black, loose fitting tailored trousers or black, tailored knee length shorts.

We have given very careful consideration to cost, practicality and durability in our uniform guidance. Skirts and PE kit were the main points of contention that came through the consultation process. We were mindful to address these issues by finding practical solutions that would not incur extra cost to parents or the school. It is extremely costly to pay for staff time spent enforcing rules on skirt length, which is a perennial problem and an inefficient use of staff time. The introduction of tights is a practical, smart and sensible solution.

I have attached the updated guidance for the 2026/27 Academic year. If there are any concerns or queries regarding this updated guidance, please contact us at this address LSA-Uniform@lsahigh.org .

Thank you for your ongoing support throughout my first year at the school.
