This is my penultimate blog of the year and with temperatures soaring, the young people are once more in their PE kits. This system works very well here, and once the thermometer gets into the 30s will be the uniform strategy of choice. As you all know, I have made some practical and value for money changes to our uniform for next year, this is offset by the certainty that in extreme weather conditions sensible adaptations will be made. Common sense is still the guiding principle in decision making at LSA.
It has been really interesting to see our young people adapt to new systems. Our one-way system and post lunch line ups for year 7 and 8s have seen our young people move as a collective around the school site. Whilst there has been much grumbling, they have adapted well to these new routines, and they prepare the way for establishing the seamless habits that make all large-scale public institutions work properly.
I have very much enjoyed getting to know our young people this year, they are so open and friendly, and they are a credit to this community. Whenever people find out what I do for a living they say without fail, 'I bet that's a challenge these days', I point out to them that young people haven't got worse, you just got old. This generation of young people are far gentler, kinder and better informed than the one I first encountered in the 1990s, we should celebrate them more. They make me proud to be LSA!
