Image of Year 11 art gallery visit

On the last day of the school year, just after the emotional and inspiring leavers assembly, our Year 11 Art students took part in a very special Art Gallery Day in Manchester. This trip was a celebration of creativity and an opportunity for our students to explore the city’s vibrant art and design scene firsthand.

Our journey began at the Whitworth Art Gallery, where students took part in a drawing workshop and explored a wide variety of exhibitions showcasing both traditional and contemporary works. It was a great chance for them to reflect on different styles, cultures, and artistic expressions, sparking new ideas and perspectives.

Next, we visited the School of Digital Arts (SODA) at Manchester Metropolitan University. This was a real highlight for many of our aspiring artists and digital creatives. The students were given insight into modern media production, animation, gaming, and film. Seeing how creative industries work at a professional level inspired conversations about future careers and university pathways.

We ended the day at the Manchester Art Gallery, where students had the chance to explore an incredible collection of historical and modern art. They particularly enjoyed the interactive exhibits and the opportunity to engage with the gallery spaces independently, applying what they’ve learned in class to the artworks around them.

This trip was more than just a day out – it was a meaningful and enriching experience. It gave our students a deeper appreciation of the arts and a glimpse into how creativity can shape their futures. We’re proud of how they represented the school and excited to see where their talents will take them next.

Well done, Year 11 – what a fantastic way to end your time with us at LSA!
