On February 4th, Year 11 students watched a special screening of Macbeth that is being shown in cinemas nationwide. The original production was performed at the Donmar Warehouse in 2024 and starred David Tennant and Cush Jumbo, gaining huge acclaim for an outstanding theatrical performance.

Local arts venue, the Lowther Pavillion are showing the production and applied for a special licence to show it at LSA to support the GCSE English exam study.

Head of Drama, Mal Smith said 'We were really lucky to be able to see this fantastic production at school. Not only is it an invaluable revision resource for the English exam, it is a landmark performance that shows the text at it's vibrant and visceral best. We are so grateful to Kerry Tuhill and Dan Creasey from the Lowther Pavillion for their work in making this happen.'

Y11 students Grace Salisbury and Lily Mason said 'It was so valuable seeing the words brought to life. It helps with understanding not just the script, but also the motivation of the characters.'

Macbeth is showing at the Lowther Pavillion on Wednesday February 5th at 7.00pm.
