Our Careers Advisor Mrs Harrison had the exciting oppurtunity to visit Buckingham Palace for the Duke of Edinburgh Garden Party. Here is her account of the day:

"WOW……. What more can I say?  Yesterday was the highlight of the year for me; I was honoured to attend the Duke of Edinburgh Garden Party at Buckingham Palace as a regional special guest.  Students from all over the country who had achieved their Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award were presented with their certificates in the beautiful gardens. The Earl of Wessex was in attendance yesterday visiting each group with questions about the involvement in DofE and the expedition students had experienced.  The sun was blazing and the lovely James Ketchell was the guest speaker for our group.  James is an inspiration to young people having become the first person to have rowed across the Atlantic Ocean, successfully summited Mount Everest and cycled 18,000 miles around the world.  I was fortunate enough to be in the same group as ex-student Sam Thomas who started his DofE award with LSA in 2010.  Achieving the Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award is a great achievement and something all the students from yesterday should be proud of. Well Done!"
