The headteacher is a member of the Governing Body until he or she chooses not to be.
Governors are responsible for the strategic direction and overall vision of the school, supporting the effectiveness of the school in its aims of promoting pupil achievement, attainment and development, contributing to and reviewing progress of the school's improvement plan and overall aims and objectives, approving the school budget, contributing to and reviewing policies.
Both teaching and support staff are eligible to stand for election as a staff governor. Staff Governors are elected by the school staff and must work at the school; volunteers are not eligible.
Parents, including carers, of registered pupils at the school are eligible to stand for election as Parent Governor and are elected by other parents at the school.
LEA Governors are appointed by the LEA
Co-opted Governors are appointed by the Governing Body.
