Sixth Form got to experience what running a business is like in the real world through their visit to Vanilla Cafe in St Annes.
One of our Year 12 students, George Fox, was recently selected to play for the England Cerebral Palsy Development Team in a Home Nations Tournament, held at Lilleshall National Sports Centre, Shropshire.
LSA's MFL students have something to be proud of by working on eTwinning in the classroom! Sandra Underwood, School Link Coordinator and MFL teacher has been busy working on eTwinning projects with her students and has been recognized during the 2012-13 academic year by the British Council with Quality Labels for two projects: Aliens Just Like Us? and Grow with Us!
Well done Y11! 97% of students achieved 5 or more passes at grade C or above and 63% achieved that level including English and Mathematics. Results in English, Mathematics and Science were well above national averages, results which continue the steady improvement year on year at the school and which have have been achieved when nationally there have been significant reductions in numbers achieving the highest grades.
I would like to offer my congratulations to our Y13 students on their outstanding examination results this year. 54% of all entries were passed at grades A*-B, with 34% of our students receiving an A* or A grade. The overall pass rate was 98% which continues an upward trend in performance in recent years.

Ten students took part in our first ever French visit to France outside of Comenius. The students spent 6 days visiting our partner school and surrounding areas. They had a fantastic time having spent one of the days in school participating in joint activities and making friends.
On Friday 12th July, our local MP mark Menzies officially opened the schools new sixth form and school council gardens. This project has transformed the entrance to the school from an overgrown jungle to a work of true beauty. It is thanks to dedicated members of the 6th form and school council that the project could be completed to such a high standard.
Seven students from our Comenius partner school Realschule Broich, Mülheim an der Ruhr, took part in a pilot project last week which involved spending two days in school and one week on work placement. The students spent 12 days in Lytham working and visiting the sights over the weekend. They gained experience working in local business such as The Dalmeny Hotel, Jack's Bistro, Noblett Surveyors, Lytham Primary and Hall Park Primary as well as LSA Catering.
The first ever Great British Bake off was held in school on Monday 15th July '13.
Outstanding LSA sportsmen and women students received their awards, to a packed audience of their peers, this week. Presenting the awards to the students was Ryan De La Harpe, the Namibian International rugby player.
A group of Year 13 students, who have expressed interest in becoming Healthy Relationship Champions, have had their first meeting with Chief Inspector Laura Lawler, Bernadette Kunna (Young Persons' Outreach Worker) and Claire Jackson (Domestic Violence & Social Media, 'Safe Haven' Fylde Coast Womens Aid) at LSA Technology & Performing Arts College.
